Zhuang Ze’s heart trembled. He didn’t want to hear about Zhou Yunchen’s romantic history, didn’t want to hear about his feelings for someone else.
But Zhou Yunchen spilled everything. He leaned back against the bed, his arm draped over his eyes, blocking out all light. “I was jealous of Luo Huiyan. I was jealous that you liked her. I only pursued her to make you give up on her.”
He paused, then added self-mockingly, “Sorry. I like you.”
Zhuang Ze froze. His eyes widened, wondering if he was dreaming.
Zhou Yunchen didn’t look at him, just stood up and spoke in a voice full of defeat: “I don’t know why I like you. We’re both guys… Isn’t that scary? But like you said—you just like someone, there’s no reason.”
When the door opened, Zhuang Ze snapped out of his daze.
The dim light from outside poured in. Zhou Yunchen took a step out, as if about to be swallowed up by the darkness.
Zhuang Ze leaped to his feet and grabbed him from behind, wrapping his arms tightly around him. “I…”
He opened his mouth, but no words came out. He didn’t dare speak. If this was a dream, speaking would shatter it.
Zhou Yunchen stiffened. Glancing down at Zhuang Ze’s pale hands, he murmured, “Don’t do things that’ll make me misunderstand.”
Zhuang Ze’s throat felt clamped shut. He couldn’t make a sound.
Zhou Yunchen smiled faintly, speaking gently. “See? I’ve been honest. If you like her, go and tell her. Be brave.”
Zhuang Ze clung to him, finally finding his voice. “I like you.”
Zhou Yunchen froze, disbelief written all over his face. He frowned. “Don’t mess with me.”
“I don’t like her. I…” Zhou Yunchen turned around sharply, staring at Zhuang Ze. Zhuang Ze opened his mouth and shouted, “I don’t like her! I like him!”
Miraculously, Zhou Yunchen understood.
Zhuang Ze looked up at him, eyes blazing with passion and love, no longer hiding a thing.
Zhou Yunchen’s heart raced. He felt like he was standing in front of a dense fog, unsure if he was about to step off a cliff or onto solid ground.
He hesitated, then stepped forward. He kissed Zhuang Ze, bracing himself for a fall.
Zhuang Ze held him tight, clumsily kissing him back.
There was no fall—only a soaring sensation, as if he’d reached heaven.
Zhou Yunchen kissed him wildly, tasting of liquor and exhaustion, again and again confirming what was real.
Tears streamed silently down Zhuang Ze’s cheeks as he wrapped his arms around Zhou Yunchen’s waist.
They loved each other desperately, as if the world would end the next second.
Zhou Yunchen bit Zhuang Ze’s ear, repeating over and over, “I love you, I love you, I love you.”
Zhuang Ze didn’t know how to hold him any tighter, didn’t know how to put all the love in his chest into words.
Zhou Yunchen pulled back and looked into his eyes.
It was the most beautiful sight he’d ever seen.
In truth, Zhou Yunchen had been conquered at first glance.
He’d been lost in Zhuang Ze’s gaze ever since.
He just hadn’t realized it belonged to him until now
