Zhou Yunchen was never very sensitive to other people’s gazes.
Maybe it was because he’d been stared at so much growing up that he’d grown accustomed to it and never found it strange.
But this time, he noticed—in the far right corner of the classroom, in a spot untouched by sunlight, someone was watching him. Their gaze fell on him like gentle sunlight on skin.
Zhou Yunchen didn’t mind; in fact, it made him inexplicably happy. He didn’t look back, afraid of startling the person who was watching him.
Go ahead and look, he thought. He was looking forward to the owner of that gaze coming closer.
But he waited for a whole week, and no one approached.
Unable to resist, Zhou Yunchen snuck into the school’s surveillance system and found footage of the person in the corner who had been staring at him.
It was a boy.
Zhou Yunchen was surprised, but even through the screen, he could be certain it was him, because the warmth in his eyes was brighter than he’d imagined.
Zhou Yunchen didn’t know much about homosexuality, but he wasn’t repelled by it.
Sometimes, people are just that absurd: there’s always a moment, always a person who shatters all your preconceptions, turns your life upside down—and you’re willing to let it happen.
Zhou Yunchen stared at Zhuang Ze on the screen, studying him intently.
He wondered how to get closer. Should he change seats tomorrow? Should he sit next to him?
As he was about to close the connection, he noticed a girl beside him in the footage.
She had golden hair, radiant and beautiful, and Zhuang Ze’s gaze seemed to be fixed on her.
Was he looking at her, after all?
Zhou Yunchen’s chest tightened. He searched through all the surveillance footage, and the more he watched, the more his lips pressed together, his heart sinking to the bottom—the golden-haired girl had always been by his side. From the very first moment Zhuang Ze looked his way, she was there.
The next day, the golden-haired girl confessed her feelings to Zhou Yunchen. For the first time, Zhou Yunchen turned and looked directly into Zhuang Ze’s eyes.
Zhuang Ze didn’t look away, didn’t panic, didn’t show any sign of being caught.
He wasn’t looking at Zhou Yunchen after all…
That burning gaze of his was meant for someone else.
Zhou Yunchen stiffly turned back and accepted the girl.
