Only after receiving the divorce agreement did Luo Huanghun feel as though her heart could finally rest.

This way, she wouldn’t stand in the way of the woman Ren Jingsi truly wanted to marry.

Ren Jingsi let out a cold laugh, flung his sleeves, and left, but not before giving Luo Huanghun a meaningful look.

Luo Huanghun lowered her eyes, not bothering to argue. She knew exactly what he was thinking.

Ren Jingsi believed she was playing hard to get, using tricks.

Luo Huanghun looked up at the square patch of sky above the courtyard. All she wanted now was to leave this place, to have nothing more to do with Ren Jingsi or the Ren family.

Having been locked in a dark, windowless room, the despair forged from endless nights of blood and tears was something she never wanted to endure again.

Luo Huanghun had often thought about how it all began, and the more she thought about it, the more absurd the mistake seemed.

Ren Jingsi had the perfect family background—a powerful father, an empress for a sister, and he himself was handsome and talented. The whole city was full of his legends, and countless girls dreamed of marrying him.

That day, as he rode down the long street, Luo Huanghun fell for him at first sight.

The Luo family was known for their uprightness in court and didn’t get along with the powerful Ren family. This rivalry only intensified after Luo Huanghun’s brother, Luo Chenhui, became the commander of the Imperial Guards.

Ren Jingsi was always reserved and indifferent to matters of love, and he looked down on Luo Huanghun’s pursuit.

But just as Luo Huanghun was about to give up, she happened to find Ren Jingsi drunk and out of sorts. In his drunken state, he called out for “Ling’er.”

Li Linger—Ren Jingsi’s true love, the woman he could not marry.

If Luo Huanghun had known then that he was calling for someone else, she would never have married into the Ren family.

Ren Jingsi never knew that Luo Huanghun’s childhood nickname was also “Ling’er.”

Because of that one mistaken call, Luo Huanghun became obsessed. So when the Ren family proposed, even though her family didn’t want to agree, they couldn’t withstand her insistence.

It wasn’t until after the wedding that Luo Huanghun learned about Ren Jingsi and Li Linger.

Unable to defy his family, Ren Jingsi directed all his resentment at Luo Huanghun.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister had already set his trap, just waiting for the Luo family to fall in.

Thinking of all this, Luo Huanghun’s heart trembled. She was temporarily safe, but the plot against the Luo family had never stopped.

The thought that her family’s downfall was due to her own stubbornness filled her with bitterness. Her voice trembled as she said,
“Get ready. We’re going home.”

Qingmei looked at her in surprise,
“Miss, today isn’t the day for returning to your family.”

Luo Huanghun fell silent, then lifted her head and said firmly,
“The morning after tomorrow, we’re going home.”
