The three-month deadline passed, and the Yanling royal hunt began.

It was Luo Huanghun’s first time attending such an event. She’d had the chance in her previous life, but Ren Jingsi would never have brought her—he’d have preferred her to disappear from public view.

This time, however, Ren Jingsi agreed readily, probably because he was bringing Li Linger and needed Luo Huanghun as a cover.

Everyone attending was of noble status, so all arrangements were made for them. After settling in, Luo Huanghun changed into riding clothes, planning to take a horse out for a run.

Before marriage, she often rode with Luo Chenhui, and her riding skills were quite good.

She hadn’t expected to see Li Linger there as well. Li Linger looked a bit haggard and approached her, saying, “Sister, could you help me pick a horse?”

Luo Huanghun accompanied her to the stables and chose a gentle-looking horse for her. They each mounted up.

Suddenly, Li Linger looked at her, her eyes filled with determination. “Ren Lang treats you differently now… Please don’t blame me…”

Luo Huanghun didn’t have time to ponder her words, because chaos erupted!

The horses in the stable suddenly went wild, charging out in a frenzy. Luo Huanghun and Li Linger’s horses were swept along and quickly began to bolt out of control.

Even with her good riding skills, Luo Huanghun was nearly thrown off. She glanced at Li Linger, who was about to fall.

Just then, Ren Jingsi raced over, took one look at them, and leapt onto Li Linger’s horse.

Li Linger was saved, but in the next instant, Luo Huanghun’s horse reared up. She grabbed the mane tightly as her horse galloped off with the herd!

She only heard Ren Jingsi’s anguished shout—“Luo Huanghun!”—but all her focus was on staying on the horse.

If she fell, she’d be trampled to death.

But the more dangerous the situation, the clearer Luo Huanghun’s mind became. She recalled Li Linger’s words: “Ren Lang treats you differently now… Please don’t blame me…”

A realization dawned on her, and just then, a horse caught up to hers, running neck and neck.

She turned and saw a strikingly handsome, slightly roguish man in fine clothes—but those eyes were familiar.

It was that man.

His lips were pressed tight, his expression serious. “Don’t be afraid. With me here, nothing will happen to you.”

Somehow, Luo Huanghun instantly felt safe. The man flicked his whip, looping it around her. “Let go!”

Without hesitation, Luo Huanghun let go and was swept into the man’s arms, clutching his waist tightly.

Curled up in his embrace, she felt as if his body was an impenetrable wall, utterly secure.

But then, that annoyingly familiar voice teased from above, “Holding me so tight—hard to believe you’re not doing it on purpose. Tell me, how long have you been longing for my body? You couldn’t wait to throw yourself at me the moment we met!”

Luo Huanghun glared up at him, ready to retort, but saw the laughter in his eyes.

It was the first time she’d really seen his face, yet it felt like she’d known him forever.

The man smiled, his voice drifting on the wind as the horses galloped on. “Luo Huanghun, now we can finally be introduced. My name is Murong Feng!”
