When my wife refused to acknowledge our daughter at the sports day, I divorced her on the spot Chapter 01

My wife, Liang Mei, told me that she couldn’t accompany our daughter to the parent-child sports day at kindergarten because she had sprained her ankle. She even suggested that I help our daughter ask for leave. Seeing our little girl’s disappointment, I decided to reschedule my work and take her myself.

But before the sports day even began, I spotted Liang Mei walking arm in arm with her first love, Zhu Yang, and his son—hand in hand, all three of them standing on the lane for the “three-legged race.” She was smiling sweetly and running nimbly, showing no sign of an injured ankle whatsoever.

As the event’s opening ceremony started, Liang Mei, as the parent representative, gave a speech on stage. Below, the audience erupted in applause. The little boy beside her looked especially proud: “That’s my mommy speaking up there!”
I took the microphone from the host and asked loudly,
“Excuse me, Ms. Liang, since when do you have a son? Does your husband know about this?”

My question caught everyone off guard. The whole hall buzzed with whispers, and I felt the weight of countless strange and judgmental stares.

“What’s wrong with that guy? Ms. Liang’s husband is sitting right next to their son. What kind of stupid question is that?”
“Look at his appearance and build—probably just some gigolo chasing after rich women. No surprise, since Liang Mei is the most outstanding female CEO in Haiyun City. I’ve seen plenty of people like him trying to climb the social ladder.”
“Zhu Yang says he and Liang Mei were first loves, and they’ve been together ever since. That guy has no chance.”

On stage, Liang Mei’s face flashed with surprise and panic when she saw me, but she quickly masked it with a smile.
“Sir, you must be joking. This is the opening ceremony, and I’d prefer not to discuss private matters. My speech is finished—thank you, everyone.”
She bowed to the audience, descended from the stage amidst thunderous applause, and sat down in the front row next to Zhu Yang and his son. The two of them held hands openly, looking so sweet together that it made everyone around them envious.

“Wow, look at them—holding hands, so cute!”

I handed the microphone back to the kindergarten teacher and returned to my seat, taking in the scene between Liang Mei and Zhu Yang.

The opening ceremony continued. My phone vibrated in my pocket.
A message from Liang Mei:
“Why did you suddenly bring our daughter to the sports day? She was feeling down, so I asked for leave for her so she could relax at home. Why did you bring her here?”
“Mu Jun, when are you going to start caring about our daughter?”

Reading her accusations, I couldn’t help but let out a cold laugh.
It was her who canceled at the last minute, claiming she couldn’t attend. That’s why our daughter was upset in the first place.
“Special leave”?
Was she afraid our daughter would see her acting as someone else’s mother?

I was glad I had canceled that business deal to come here with our daughter.

“Is that your answer, Liang Mei?” I texted back.

“Mu Jun, what do you mean? I just felt sorry for little Zhu Hao—he’s never had a mother. As a favor to an old classmate, I pretended to be his mom for the day. If you keep making a fuss, you can sleep in the guest room this month.”

Me, making a fuss?
Her whole company depends on my investments to stay afloat. How dare she cheat on me and then blame me for causing trouble?

With a cold laugh, I immediately contacted my financial manager and ordered him to withdraw all my investments from Shengxing Group.

“Daddy, why isn’t Mommy sitting with us? She’s sitting next to Zhu Hao…”
Our daughter tugged at my sleeve, her eyes wide with confusion.

Someone nearby snickered,
“Liang Mei is Zhu Hao’s mother, not yours. Of course she wouldn’t sit with you.”

Our daughter was furious: “Liang Mei is my mommy! She’s not Zhu Hao’s!”

The little boy, Zhu Hao, stuck out his tongue at her and said, “No, she’s my mommy! She told me so herself!”

Our daughter’s eyes welled up with tears.
I squeezed her hand reassuringly.
“Don’t worry, sweetheart. I’m here for you.”

The crowd was still murmuring, but I ignored them.
I focused on my daughter, trying to make sure she enjoyed the rest of the sports day.
