When my wife refused to acknowledge our daughter at the sports day, I divorced her on the spot Chapter 03

I laughed bitterly and immediately deleted Liang Mei from my contacts, then instructed my agent to draft divorce papers and send them to me as soon as possible.
My daughter and I had been insulted right in front of her, and not only did she fail to stand up for us—she joined in and piled on the humiliation. At that point, as far as I was concerned, there was no reason left to keep this marriage going.

Just then, the kindergarten principal finally finished his long-winded speech and announced the start of the parent-child sports day.
Everyone gathered on the small playground, grouped by family.
I held my daughter’s hand and looked around. Every other family was made up of three people—mom, dad, and child—except for ours, which was just the two of us.

A gap-toothed boy suddenly shouted loudly:
“Mu Tian, you liar! You say you have a mommy, but she’s never come to pick you up from kindergarten!”
“All the other moms are here for the sports day, but yours isn’t!”
“You don’t have a mommy at all!”
His voice was loud, drawing everyone’s attention—including Liang Mei, Zhu Yang, and Zhu Hao.

“I…” My daughter hesitated, her eyes filling with tears as she looked pleadingly at Liang Mei, who was standing a short distance away.
She silently begged her mother to step forward and prove that she did have a mother.
But Liang Mei ignored her completely.
She bent down and spoke sweetly to Zhu Hao.
“Xiao Hao, your shoelace is untied. Let Mommy help you with that.”
She knelt on one knee, her delicate fingers deftly tying a neat bow on his faded shoelaces.

People around them immediately started to praise her:
“Wow, CEO Liang is so doting! She even ties her son’s shoelaces herself.”
“She’s such an amazing mom! I should learn from her.”
“I want Ms. Liang to be my mommy, too!”
Seeing this, my daughter gripped my sleeve tightly and stayed silent.

The first event was the three-legged race—except each team was supposed to have three people, not two.
But since this was a fun, family-oriented event, no one objected when my daughter and I lined up at the starting line.

When the whistle blew, everyone raced forward.
My daughter and I, running as a pair, worked together perfectly and crossed the finish line first.
Liang Mei, Zhu Yang, and Zhu Hao came in just behind us.

As the principal came over to award the red ribbon to the winners, Zhu Hao suddenly yelled:
“Mu Tian’s team cheated! There are only two of them, but we’re the real winners!”
“The red ribbon should be mine!”

The principal looked embarrassed. “Well…”
I frowned. “If we were allowed to compete, we should be allowed to win.”
“That’s true…” the principal began, but Liang Mei cut in coldly:
“But this event is called the three-legged race, not the two-legged race.
If they can win with just two people, why not let someone compete alone and go even faster?”
“Might as well just make it a footrace if you’re going to bend the rules like this.”

The principal wiped his forehead and laughed awkwardly. “CEO Liang is right! We must be fair. I declare Zhu Hao’s team the winners!”
He quickly took the red ribbon from my daughter’s forehead and stuck it on Zhu Hao’s face.
“Here, Zhu Hao, this ribbon is for you.”
Zhu Hao put his hands on his hips and smirked at my daughter, his face full of triumph.
“Mu Tian, a kid without a mommy, how could you ever win against me?”
“You…”
I felt my head spin with anger and was about to snap back, but my daughter squeezed my hand.
“It’s okay, Daddy,” she said quietly.
Her voice was small, but it calmed me down.
I squeezed her hand back and whispered, “You’re my champion, no matter what.”

We stood together, watching as everyone else celebrated around us, but I knew we had already won something far more important.
