The next morning, I opened my eyes.

Above me was a luxurious ceiling and a crystal chandelier.

My first thought: This doesn’t look like my place, but I’m not totally sure. Better take another look.

Suddenly, the door swung open.

Lin Wen strode in, looking like he hadn’t slept a wink. “You’re awake? What, waiting for me to bathe and dress you?”

“Oh.” I stretched, then rolled out of bed.

Looks like I must’ve gotten too drunk last night and accidentally crashed at Lin Wen’s house.

After freshening up, I made my way to the dining room.

Lin Wen sat at the table with dark circles under his eyes.

Suddenly, I understood.

“Man, you really worked hard last night,” I said, biting into a steamed bun. “Don’t worry, I’ll take responsibility.”

“Pffft!”

Lin Wen spit his soy milk all over the table.

I shot him a look of disgust. “Tsk. Where’s your housekeeper? Get someone to clean this up.”

“I don’t have a housekeeper.” Lin Wen gritted his teeth and grabbed some napkins to wipe up the mess himself.

What kind of giant villa doesn’t have a housekeeper? Ridiculous.

Half an hour later, Lin Wen drove me to the company.

As soon as we walked in, a wave of perfume hit me.

“Wen Wen!”

Before I could even finish yawning, a beautiful woman launched herself into Lin Wen’s arms.

Lin Wen looked annoyed and pushed her away. “This is the office.”

“But I missed you... Wait—who’s she??”

The woman finally noticed me walking in with Lin Wen and looked utterly shocked. “Did you sleep with her?”

Huh???

Instantly, every gossip-hungry eye in the office zeroed in on me.

The assistant’s baguette fell right out of his mouth.

I cleared my throat and glanced at Lin Wen. “And this is...?”

Lin Wen frowned. “A friend.  Mei Xue

“What friend!” Mei Xue stomped her foot and clung to Lin Wen’s arm. “I’m his fiancée”

I narrowed my eyes. “Don’t bother inviting me to the wedding.”

Then I strolled into the elevator.

As the doors closed, I caught a glimpse of  Mei Xue’s stunned face.

At my desk, the assistant wandered over, baguette retrieved from the floor.

He leaned in. “Comrade Su, I heard you came in with the boss?”

“Yep,” I said, nodding.

He gave me a big thumbs-up. “You’re the real deal.”

A moment later, Lin Wen stormed over, face dark as thunder. “In my office. Now.”

“Good luck!” the assistant whispered behind me, making a little prayer gesture.

Inside, Lin Wen stood by the floor-to-ceiling windows. I made a beeline for the boss’s chair, sat down, picked up the fresh coffee on the desk, and took a calm sip. “So, what’s up?”

“We’re going on a business trip. You buy wait, Su Nianci, why the hell are you sitting in my chair?”

Lin Wen spun around, saw me in the boss’s chair, and nearly lost it. “Why don’t you just take over as CEO?”

I considered it. “Maybe next time.”

“Then get out of my chair” he growled.

Fine, fine. I got up and moved to the sofa.

When I first joined, he was way more polite. Men ,so two-faced.

Lin Wen took a deep breath, rubbing his temples. “We’re flying to North Province. Buy two tickets one economy, one business class. Got it?”

“Anything else?” I asked, barely moving an eyelid.

“Out.”

I followed orders and bought two tickets.

Of course, I booked myself business class and put the boss in economy.

Problem? I don’t see a problem.

After packing a few things, we headed to the airport.

Just as we were leaving, Mei Xue ran over.

Su Nianci, right?” She glared at me, all possessive. “That’s my fiancé. Stay away from him.”

I cocked an eyebrow. “Lady, don’t challenge me lightly.”

Then I turned to Lin Wen. “Three minutes. I want her full background report on my desk.”

Mei Xue was dumbfounded.

She swallowed and looked at Lin Wen with sympathy. “Which asylum did she escape from?”

Lin Wen shot me a look. “Probably the First Central Hospital.”

Me: ... ...

Hmph. They don’t get me. Mere mortals.

At the airport, Lin Wen and I stared each other down.

He watched as I strolled into the VIP lounge.

“You really bought yourself business class?” Lin Wen gritted his teeth.

I waved my ticket. “Of course.”

Problem? No problem.

Conclusion: He’s a self-sacrificing boss. I should find a way to get him some investment.

“Fine, you win!.” Lin Wen muttered, then paid to upgrade himself to business class and sat next to me.

“This is coming out of your salary.”

“If there’s nothing else, don’t disturb me.”

I reclined and drifted off to sleep.

Didn’t sleep great, though. Someone kept grinding their teeth next to me.
